She's back!!!!!!

>> 29 December 2009

OH MY God!!!!! I missed you guys so much! It's been a crazy, crazy time! It's so funny just how much over the last year I've become so attached to people I've never met just through their words, their thoughts, their insights, their pictures.

The last few weeks...where do I start? So I sold the house. Yeah!!!! Made zero profit (actually once I add it up probably lost about $20K) although that loss will reflect nicely on my taxes this year so it still wasn't really all that bad. I was amazed at how relived I felt walking away.

I, like many others, play the 'What if I won the Lottery game' in my head all the time. Before I got rid of the house...all I could think was ...first I need to replace the fence and then the Central Heat and Air, and then the back house and then and then and then, the entire $20 million was spent. Well of course $20 Million. If I'm going to win the Lottery, it's going to be big. Hellllloooo. Now when I win, I can buy a big fat house in Lake Tahoe. Yeah Baby! I mean help save babies in Africa. That's what I meant to say.

We moved into a nice, new cookie cutter Monopoly house atypical of all suburbs. It's pretty, don't get me wrong. Everything works!!!!! That's the best part. The owners have put in a lot of time and money into this house. From crown molding to a completely landscaped backyard, a brand new pergola, and new everything inside the house. I love the fact I don't have to fix anything but the house makes me nervous. I'm afraid to touch anything for fear I might scuff something. Plus they keep coming over! I’ve lived here 2 weeks and they’ve come over 6 times.

Sweet Baby Jesus in a Clam Shack- People GO AWAY!!!!!!

Two days after I unpacked the last box I threw my back out and had to lay flat for 5 days. I do not know how people who live in chronic pain do it!!! For those of you how live this way- you amaze me! My creativity flies out the window when I'm in pain.

I’m up, I’m moving. I lost seven pounds. Life is Good! How are you?

Interrupt

>> 10 December 2009

We interrupt our regularly scheduled broadcast of whining, complaining, updating, and knowledg-ifying (yep that's a word) (because I say so) to tell you this is how I feel right now. Stupid school. I'm the blond- looks just like me, huh?

But in one week....I never, ever have to take another Finance class. One more paper and a final and I'm done!!!!!!!! There just aren't enough exclaimation points in the world.

So bear with me...my loyal, wonderful, brilliant, beautiful readers, two more days and I am all yours once again.

Listener Discretion

>> 08 December 2009

SuperGirl and I were in It's a Grind the other night chilling and killing time before I had to meet a client. Earlier in the day we had gone to a local high school dance- the HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA. I had to go...my other daughter was dancing and my other son was doing the lighting so attendance was required . But to entertain ourselves, we had packed a 1 lb bag of M&M's in the purse of which we proceeded eat. So by the time we arrived at the coffeehouse we were high.

Let me tell you. As much coffee as I drink you think M&M's wouldn't affect me much but I think it's the chemicals. We were goofy, hyper, silly, playful and mildly entertaining. Well I like to think so at least.

While we were irritating entertaining the staff this band came in and started to set up. - I think they had eaten an entire bag of M&M's too because they were as goofy as we were.

Pretty good music.  You can listen below. I had to hunt to find them on the webs. This is what I came up with.

Globe Trotting Part 3

>> 07 December 2009

Today's Adventuring takes us to Charlotte North Carolina to the largest man-made white water rafting in the country at U.S. National Whitewater Center. Opened in 2006, the site has tons to do.  There's rafting in the world's largest recirculating river, 14 miles of biking, hiking and running trails, zip line, and rock climbing at one of the world's largest outdoor climbing facilities.

The USNWC's main gate and trails are open, weather permitting, 365 days a year from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm EST. You can rent gear on-site.

Usually I'm a room-service, lay on a nice beach kind of girl but the night-time pic's they sent in the brochure makes it look like so much fun I'll probably have to go at least once.

Universe- think Lottery!

>> 03 December 2009

The Universe is an incredibly interesting entity.

As you know I’m self-employed with a home office. So unlike during the days when I worked in an office, I really have to go out of my way to interact with people. Plus going to school- unless I’m in class, I spend quite a bit of time studying alone.

As an outgoing, social person…..for the most part I NEED to be around people. Makes me feel better. If I’m alone too much, I get depressed and unproductive. To avoid being stuck at home- I spend a lot of time working at coffee shops, libraries, bookstores, etc. A LOT OF TIME. More than the average joe.

Couple of my favorites …Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, Borders, occasionally It’s a Grind or Panera’s, etc.

My biggest favorite however is Bloom Coffee, a local coffee house ran by some young 20 somethings. For some reason it has a strong Christian following. I have no idea why. The place is pretty neat- lots of recycled green materials. They serve water in carafes. Espresso drinks in real cups with saucers and tiny little spoons. Great music. The bathroom has chalkboard painted walls-well the woman’s does. I don’t know if the guys does??? I’ll have to peek sometime. Everyone draws pictures, puts up quotes or messages. I’ll post pic’s tomorrow.

Every month the Coffeehouse features a different artist.

Last month was Shane Grammer. I love his work. SuperGirl loves his work. She’s started to save her allowance so she can buy one of his paintings for her birthday next month. He had a couple of sculptures I want!!! Prices are pretty good especially for art.

Cuz I love this type of art- modern art- I’ve bookmarked his website. He’s one of the featured artist’s. (look to the right)

Ever since then, I see this guy everywhere. I happened to pick up a magazine- one of those throw away style magazines- there’s an article about him. Article sucked- In the back of my mind I was thinking, I should contact him. I could write a better article.

This morning, I’m in my neighborhood Starbucks…deep in Finance hell. Strangles, Straddles, Bull Spreads, Butterflys…sounds dirty, huh.

I look up…two gentlemen sitting on the couch..and guess who’s one of them? Yes, Shane Grammer. All I could do was laugh. What are the odds? It's like I conjured him right out of my head.

Did I approach him and act like a deranged fan???

No- I chickened out. All I could do was stare and laugh. The guy must have thought I was the hugest lunatic.

So one day soon. Probably in a month- when I go to buy SuperGirl’s painting I’ll ask him if I can do a feature. In the meantime check him out. His stuff is pretty cool. Plus, he's kinda cute in person.

NaBloMoPo: The End

>> 01 December 2009

I did it. I did it. Who the hell even knew it was possible for me to talk about nothing for 30 days. 30 days in a row. You were with me!

Wow- that was dumb! Of course you know I'm doing it next year except I think I'm going full force and doing the novel too. I had 3/4 of a novel written and kaput there it went. Haven't been motivated much to re-write it so NaNoWriMo here I come.
