Run Dream MC

>> 27 February 2010

I’ve been dreaming of running a lot lately but not my usual type. Usually I run in terror, from some snarling, foaming beast, running and falling, running and falling, Crying in terror until it catches me and I awake.

I don’t even need a psychiatrist to analyze that dream- I got it.

Lately however I’m dreaming of running alongside a road, legs and arms pumping in tandem. Running with joy, breath moving in and out rhythmically. I feel such pride and comfort as I run. I run for distance.

The dreams confuse me, pride and joy crossing the line between wake and sleep. The feelings stay with me all day, as though I actually completed the task. Odd.

After all the odds of my running as such, in real life? Hmmm With my short legs and arms (I’m barely 5, 2” after all) rounded (well everything) and breasts that would make Dolly Parton clutch me in embrace and call me sister, the odds of running are about as likely as sitting down and explaining quantum physics to a bunch of grad students.

Oh, it could be done but not without a whole lotta prep time and even then not so well.

Don’t get me wrong, I am the exercise queen. I will elliptical, Pilates, yoga, swim, box, cardio aerobicize, weight lift, and hike with the best of them. A good cardio kickboxing class is not unlike a religious experience. Short, rounded girl sports.

But anything that requires sustained bouncing. Well let’s just say I spare you just as much as me. It’s frightful to watch.

For now I guess I’ll simply run in my dreams.

I have no desire to run. I don't mind working out and I ran during sports in my day, but to just go and run without being chased? No thanks! I admire those who do, though. Is that weird?

I don't think that there are a really good reason to dreams. I really want to know why we get them though.
